A Christmas Wish

Dear love of my life, It's been a true emotional rollercoaster trying to figure myself out. Why I do the things I do and why I keep running circles with my emotional unavailability. And the only constant thought I never really managed to shake off the back of my mind is you. And that didn't even start with the first night we spent together, which was monumental in itself. No, it started way before that. It started the first moment my retina captured the sight of you that day at the bank when time stood still and the atom was split. And then my brain couldn't erase it. And even though at that time the possibility of me and you was only a fantasy, it eventually came true. But then I lost you and I've been searching for you ever since. And no matter how much time has passed, somehow I keep a door open for the posibility that maybe, just maybe one day I will wake up and see that beautiful smile of yours next to me.  Meanwhile I keep drowning myself in a sea of pointless pu...

Your body is a temple

Most people, when in a relationship, tend to let go of themselves. They no longer care about their appearance, they no longer care about how they eat, dress and so on. What happens is, if you're in a relationship, you falsely assume that your better half will love you for who you are, no matter what. And while it may be true that your partner appreciates you for your personality, in a single's world, your personality will only take you so far and only your mother can love you no matter what.

So you've just realized that all these years of eating out, choosing pizza over chicken and salad, drinking beer and nachos while watching a game or going to the movies have left their mark on you in the shape of a pot belly and man boobs, and that your dress shirt no longer fits you. You just know that this is not the image of a playboy that can attract countless beautiful women in his bed, this is just an average middle aged guy looking like he needs a prostate exam and can barely flirt with the similarly middle aged cashier at the grocery store.

"Do not fret" I say thee. There is still hope. I can tell you, from my own experience, that going back to your younger, fit self is not impossible. I used to be overweight (close to 120 kg or 260 lbs) and one day I decided to muster all my focus and drive into becoming fit again. So relentlessly I started doing cardio and eating right and soon it all paid off. It may take a while, depending on your current situation or dedication but it's not that hard. I'm not going to go through complicated fitness routines or programs, you can find plenty of those on the internet (a good start would be at https://thinkeatlift.com/), instead I'm going to give you a few pointers based on my experience and my mistakes.

First off, the single most important thing you need is a strong motivation. With enough of it, you can achieve anything. I once was supposed to meet this girl from abroad that I hadn't seen in a long time and I knew that one of her fantasies was to pleasure me orally, so just to make sure that my sperm was sweet to the taste I quit drinking coffee and had a very strict diet of certain fruits for several months. Trust me, it was worth the effort. So in order to start your journey with the right foot, you need to visualize your goals. You always have to have the image you want to achieve in your mind, at every step, every hard training session, every squat or tasteless piece of chicken you have to chew in order to better your physique. Sometimes it's going to be hard, sometimes it's going to get emotional, but always keep your eye on the ball and remember: if it hurts it means you're doing the right thing.

Secondly, there's the diet. Man I know I love ice cream and cheesecake and burgers and ribs, but I also love myself and thankfully the love for myself trumps my love for food. Depending on how fast you wanna reach your goal or how ambitious that goal is, you can occasionally indulge in some treats. Very important here being the word "occasionally". The golden rule of dieting, regardless of what most articles in the media will say, is calories in vs calories out. So an easy rule of thumb, so that you don't procrastinate about it and it becomes easy for you to stay on track, eat smaller portions and eat clean. Oh, and stay away from alcohol. If you do have to drink (and you will, since you are a playboy) do so moderately and chose your beverage wisely. For the best results stick with sparkling wine and for the finer gentlemen perhaps a dram of scotch whiskey.

Last, but not least, training. It is not mandatory since you can probably get into reasonable shape with dieting alone, but you don't want reasonable, you don't want average, you want perfect, godlike even. So in terms of training, regardless of the type of physical exercise you chose, the most important piece of advice I can give you is to hire a trainer. I wish I had been given that advice long ago, before I realized I had developed muscle imbalances and mobility issues due to all the unassisted weight lifting. So when I started having pains in my joints I decided I needed to hire professional help. Best money spent ever. Not only did it not hurt anymore, but I got better results in months training with a professional than I did in years by myself. So don't be cheap and invest in yourself.

So don't wait until next Monday to get your body back. Start right now!.
